Help plan the Eugene Disaster Relief trials

Neighbors can use their bicycles to help neighbors in need during disaster response. Planning is starting now for an exercise in September 2022.

Are you interested in how bikes can help during a disaster?

A group of community members are organizing volunteers interested in planning a disaster relief by bike event in Eugene. The goals of the event will be to learn and practice mutual aid skills and to build community.

The event is tentatively scheduled for September 2022 and will feature people riding cargo bikes, or using bike trailers, in a timed event delivering water and other supplies that would be needed during a disaster.

Bikes will be integral during a disaster, as they can navigate damaged or blocked roads and do not require power or fuel to operate.

The Disaster Relief Trials have taken place in Eugene in the past and one is scheduled in Portland for June 2022.
