America chooses multicultural diversity over white nationalism, genocide

Presenter: The KEPW News team watched the results Election Night and then shared some commentary this morning. Here is Julie Lambert:
Julie Lambert: I’m Julie and I have your national election updates for KEPW.
Democrats secured an important Senate pickup in North Carolina. The AP is calling that race for former Gov. Roy Cooper and also calling victories for incumbents: And Jon Ossoff has taken Georgia and Chris Pappas in New Hampshire, preserving two Democratic seats. And these results will improve the Democrats position, and going on to Texas: Democrat James Talarico; Democrat Troy Jackson is ahead of Sen. Susan Collins in Maine; in Ohio, Sherrod Brown.
Florida politics are delivering some consequential House results. They’re calling for victories for Democrats Kathy Castor and Pia Dandiya. And CBS is projecting a win for Jared Moskowitz. And Castor’s victory is particularly notable because her redrawn district would have favored Donald Trump by roughly 11 points in 2024.
Moving on to Georgia: Keisha Lance Bottoms will win the governor’s race, making her the first Black woman elected governor in United States history!
So we are making history tonight, folks. That’s our national snapshot.
John Q: Well, here’s my headline. See if you like this. I had a bunch of different headlines I tried, but this was my final one: ‘America chooses multicultural diversity over white nationalism, genocide.’

Five Democratic Socialists of America candidates won House seats in deep blue districts.
Todd Boyle: Yeah, a huge groundswell of rejection of Trump. That’s really what this was. This was the Trump election.
And, you know, in this country, I wish we had a parliamentarian system where you could swap out the leader when the country rejects him because, you know, you elect somebody like Trump on a pack of lies and misinformation and his religious base and so on, and just somehow he gets 51% and then, you know, two months later, the whole country goes: ‘Oops.’
You’ve got to wait four years to get rid of the son of a (b—), so now the Democrats could impeach him, they should impeach him. He’s committed illegal acts, of course. Many.
I was kind of worked up about the Iran war, of course. It would be nice if they, you know, if they ended that attacking, stopped attacking Iran. That’d be nice.
But Trump’s going to—I don’t think he’s going to change any of his policies until Congress passes a law to make him do it. We need to fix a lot of things in this country.
And a lot of it involves constitutional reform. And of course, as soon as you start talking with progressives about having a constitutional convention or making amendments, they say, ‘Oh, don’t even go there. Because as soon as that process starts, then it’ll be captured by the conservatives and they’ll use it to, you know, turn the country into a fascist state.’
Well, I don’t believe that. Especially after last night, you know. It just goes to show that people aren’t that stupid and they’re really tired of the corruption and the lying and the, you know, effect on our culture on TV everyday. Because it really debases the culture itself.
I’m going to be repeating endlessly that if the Democrats don’t impeach Trump, then that really bears some serious examination. And, you know, there’s still a lot of work to be done on policy and we need to hold the Democrats’ feet to the fire. That’s basically the only horse we have to ride, is the Democrats. And so they’re going to try to run away and hide and not do anything.
We need to be on the phone and calling our representatives and senators at the federal level. This Iran war thing, you know, has got to stop.
I’m really watching the Democrats closely to see if they actually follow through on their implied positions instead of just laying back and enjoying their power over the pork and the committee appointments and so on, which is, we’ve seen that pattern at times in the past.
But there’s work to be done right now and we should all be writing to Val Hoyle or whoever your representatives are, and tell ’em we want action. You know, it’s time for action. Restore funding for the things that they’ve cut mercilessly, cut the safety net for millions of people.
And also restore the taxation system. The Republicans have got in there and cut taxes on the rich and shifted the burden to the poor and printing money, restore the social safety net, and also tax the rich. Like how obvious is that?
You know, the rich have been getting by great under the Republicans. So now there’s the clawback—to restore those taxes.
Presenter: The other headline said, ‘Blue tsunami lifts Eugene Clean Energy Fund, Ward 5 candidate Athena Aguiar.’ Both are leading in the results by a margin of 58-42%.
