EWEB addresses allegations at McKenzie Watershed Alliance

from Aaron Orlowski, EWEB Communications

EWEB is aware of allegations of financial wrongdoing by a staff member of the McKenzie Watershed Alliance. These allegations do not implicate EWEB employees. The details and facts are still emerging, and we support the investigation proceeding unhindered.

How were EWEB funds impacted?

As a community-owned utility, being a trustworthy steward of our customers’ dollars is a top priority. We take that duty seriously and maintain strong financial controls to ensure customer dollars are appropriately spent.

Consistent with that responsibility, we’re working to understand the extent to which utility funds may have been affected. We are moving deliberately to confirm we have appropriate visibility into fund use, contractural performance, and risk management measures tied to the programs we support, including safeguards needed to protect public resources.

How will EWEB move forward regarding any impacted funds?

We are taking this investigation seriously and reviewing our options, including our rights under contracts and any financial exposure.

Will EWEB continue to invest in watershed protection?

Our work on the McKenzie River is vital to protecting our community’s drinking water and serving our customers.
While the investigation into these allegations proceeds, EWEB remains committed to advancing water source protection throughout the McKenzie River watershed.

Does EWEB intend to continue collaborating with partners on watershed protection?

Watershed projects have delivered meaningful results, and we expect to continue partnering with watershed management groups. These partnerships allow us to combine expertise, coordinate resources, and achieve outcomes beyond what any one organization could do alone.

Especially during this intense wildfire season, continued collaboration to protect the river and watershed remain a priority for EWEB.
