Sandra Laub brings one-woman play ‘Picking Up Stones’ to Eugene Aug. 16

Robin Bloomgarden: Picking up Stones: An American Jew Wakes To A Nightmare, written and performed by Sandra Laub. The performance is geared toward audiences aged 16 plus on Sunday, Aug. 16, 7 p.m., at Temple Beth Israel.

In this unflinching 80-minute intermissionless one-woman play, playwright and actress Sandra Laub portrays 21 individuals—historical and contemporary—who are woven into a tense cross-generational dialogue.

The performance reveals the raw complexity and pain at the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

By braiding these 21 voices with her own harrowing personal journey through the shadow of the Oct. 7 attacks and the ensuing war on Gaza, Sandra searches for the human thread that might still lead toward peace. A talkback follows.
